At 12K in elevation, it requires a slow acclimation to visit this part of the country.

Puerto Maldonado is the starting point for many jungle trips. You can fly into the airport here or can travel from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado via mountain bike. You will need to be in good physical shape to handle a trek such as this one. It is intended for a serious athlete.

Another type of trek is riding one of the amazing Peruvian Pasos horses. These animals are called Cadillac due to their smooth gait and comfortable ride. You could spend hours in the saddle and not be saddle sore. This characteristic makes them perfect for riding in the mountains of Peru.
