Exam Time is around the corner and many persons are freaking out about that dreaded subject Math. Most kids are just hoping for a 'Pass' in Math so they study what they 'need to know'. The weird think is that although they study what they 'need to know', they still end up failing math. Why is this so? Shouldn't you get a pass during exam time for math if you study enough to pass? Well the answer is no.
This reminds me of a proverb my dad once told me when I was a little girl, "Shoot for the clouds and you will fall on the top of the tree, shoot for the top of the tree and you will fall on the branches, shoot for the branches and you will fall on the ground" I didn't quite understand what this meant and he explained that if I studied hard enough to get a 100% I will get at least an A+, If I studied hard enough for an A- I will get at least a B+ and if I studied hard enough for a Pass I will get at least a FAILURE. It was clear to me that I must study hard enough for 100% and get at least an A+. I applied this strategy in all my courses and my grades were great. Although this is clear most persons don't know how to study for 100% especially for math during exam time. After all maths is not the only subject that you are studying for during exam time.
Well, that is true but I am not asking you to allocate 100% of your study time to math only. I am aware that there are a lot of other subjects that needs study time so I created some steps that will assist you to study for a 100% in math without allocating all of your study time to math.
Steps that will help you to study for math during Exam Time 1) Start from the basics this is usually the introduction of a topic. If the topic is algebra refresh your mind with the algebra rules in multiplication, division, addition and subtraction. At some point in the question you will be required to use these rules. 2) Make sure that you understand the examples in the topic. 3) If you do not understand the topic examples or explanations ask a friend or Google it. 4) After you have studied the example you must test yourself to see if you really understood the example. Take out a piece of paper and write down the exact example question and try and solve the question without looking on the answer. 5) After you have finished answering the example question check to see if your answer is correct. If it is incorrect look to see where you went wrong and do step 3 again otherwise go to step 5. 6) Attempt another example question if there are no other example questions to attempt try a question that you did in class try not to look on the answer and make sure you understand the concept. 7) Do this for all the questions that you did in class. If you get a question incorrect try it again until you get it correct. Make sure you understood why you got it incorrect. 8) DON'T SWOT. Math is not a subject that you can swot you have to understand the concepts. Most children fail because they try to swot. The thing is that the teacher wants to know how much you understood the question so they will give you a question that looks similar to one that you did in class but they will change some of the constants and variables. Most persons end up writing back the same example that they swotted and end up getting the question wrong. 9) Revise on the day before the exam. 10) When you are in the exam relax and tell yourself that you prepared and did your best so the rest is in God's hand. 11) Collect you're 'A' for math on your report card J
